Is your favourite movie 'The Jungle book'?

Image result for jungle book
On a warm, sunny Saturday afternoon, my family and I decided to go to the movies to watch the Jungle book.  We were all excited so we got ready as soon as possible then immediately went to Hoyts Cinema at Sylvia Park.

When we got to the movies, my dad bought tickets for us. Then, he told us that we will be in Cinema 4 but we had to wait for two hours because the movie was starting at 3 o’clock and it was only 1 o'clock. While we were waiting we went to countdown to buy some popcorn and snacks. We got crackers, some fruits like apples and pears and some lollies.

After we got all that we needed, we headed back to the cinema because it was almost 3 o’clock. We went straight to Cinema 4 and settled ourselves in the comfortable chairs.
Then the movie started and we also started eating our popcorn and snacks. Before the movie was finished, all our food was gone.

The movie was about a little boy named Mowgli who thought that he was a wolf because a pack of wolves raised him. There was a tiger named Shere Khan who wanted to kill Mowgli because he wasn’t an animal. Fortunately, Mowgli was not killed because all the other animals in the jungle protected him by attacking the evil Shere Khan.

My favourite part was when Mowgli helped a baby elephant because it was stuck in a hole. I hope next time we could invite some friends because my friend James really wanted to see the movie as well. I had a fantastic day with my family watching the movie.

I hope our compost decomposes soon!

On Monday the 23rd of May, my class Room 7 and I decided to make  our class compost.

My teacher Miss Chao put us into four teams to gather the ‘ingredients’ that we needed to make our compost. The first group had to rip up clean newspaper. The second group had to cut the banana peels from the bananas that we ate after lunch. The third and the fourth group had to go and collect some leaves. I was in the third group with my friends Mana, Caleb and Matej. We had to go and get some leaves to contribute to our compost.

When we got back, we had to cut the leaves and put it into the compost bin. We cut the materials that we had so that they will decompose more quickly. After that, we all had a turn to stir and water the compost.

My favourite part was when we got to stir the compost because I wanted to see what it would be like after we finish stirring it.

Learning intention: We are learning to write a recount.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I follow the structure of a recount starting with the introduction, following by the events and a conclusion of making compost with my class.

That was the best birthday ever!

Image result for restaurantsLast Friday was my grandmother's birthday so we decided to take her out for dinner at Fortuna restaurant up in Sky City.
It was a dark, cold evening so we put on  our warm jackets before leaving home.
When we arrived at our destination, the first thing we did was look for a car park. It took us a while to find a parking on level nine because the place is always busy especially on a Friday. Then we went in the elevator to go up to the restaurant. When we got there, my aunt Lily had already made a booking for us. We checked with the waiter and within a minute, we were taken to our tables.
Meanwhile, we had to wait for my cousin John to arrive because he got stuck in traffic. As soon as he arrived, we all headed straight into the buffet tables to get our food as we were all starving! I had ham, chips and some fish. When I had finished all the savory food, I decided to eat some cheese cake and some ice cream for dessert. When I ate the cheese cake, it just melted in my mouth and it was so delicious. I loved it! It was the best cheesecake ever!
Hopefully next time we could go to the top of the Sky tower so we can enjoy the view of Auckland City at night. Also, next time I wish that we could spend more time at the restaurant because there was a lot of food for us to try but we ran out of time. My favourite part was eating the best cheesecake ever!

Wow, Mega Zone is a great place!

Image result for megazoneDuring the sunny holiday, I went to Mega Zone with my cousins from Australia. Their names are Joshua, Lily, Jasmine and Sam. My loving brother went with us too.

First we had to team with someone. I was partnered up with Lily and my brother was partnered up with Joshua. Sam paired up with Jasmine. I was in the green team. Joshua was on the red team and Jasmine was on the yellow team. There was a blue team that had a little boy and an adult that  played against our teams.

We put on our ugly vests and picked up our colourful guns and went into the arena. We had to hide. Where we hid become our base. Our base station was shaped like a scary square machine. It was green because that was our colour. The other team tried to shoot it because it wasn't theirs and there were also bonus points.

Soon it was time for the game to start. We shot at the other teams and the hardest team to shoot at was the red team (my brother and Joshua's team). We cleverly crashed their party by shooting both of them and shot their base station. The yellow team shot us from behind so we chased them down like a greyhound but they kept running away so we went for the blue team instead. We shot them but they stood victorious in the end. They won! After that we went home.

I had a wonderful time with my cousins from Australia. Next time I hope that my helpful mum and caring dad could come with us so we could all have yummy lunch together afterwards.

Learning intention: We are learning to use descriptive language in our writing.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I use appropriate adjectives to describe my weekend.
