You should check the estuary!

We are learning to identify and discuss the main ideas in what we read
Re-read the text and consider the main idea and actions and then think about the consequences.
What is the main idea?
The main idea is to tell people that we need to check the health conditions of the estuary. One way to check the estuary is to count the shellfish every 3 years.

-
very interesting
  • Every three years some volunteers go to beaches or rivers to count a number of cockles.
  • They check the soil that is going through the stream drain to see if it is killing the estuary.
  • If there is a lower amount of cockles that are bad and if there are a lot that is good.
Explanation about an Estuary Health check
An estuary health check is when people that volunteer to go to beaches, streams or rivers to count how many cockles there are.
The volunteers have instructions to know what they have to do. In the instructions, they know that if there are a lot of cockles that is a good thing and if there are less it is bad.
Cockles are killed by the soil. The soil travels through the stream drains and it goes to the estuary. Also, there are more houses near the beaches and streams so there is more pollution. The pollution can take over the earth and it will destroy everything in it.
Estuaries are important parts of our environment. They provide food, shelter, fish, sea creatures like crabs and lugworms.
Plan
Estuary Health check
1. What is it?
2.actions that people do.
2.problems that kill the cockles.
4.dangers
What is an estuary health check?
An estuary health check is when people goes to streams or rivers to go and count cockles to see if they are good or bad. To know how the cockles are good or bad they have to count how many there are.  If there is a lot of cockles that is good and if there are less that is a bad thing because that tells us that the river or stream is polluted.
How can people help with the estuary?
People like you and me can help the estuary by stop littering. You can volunteer for counting the cockles. Another idea is to stop making more houses or it will have to take the space of the estuary when there is no more space lift.

WALT: identify how Christian celebrates Holy Week.
Holy week is a sacred and solemn week for Christians. Through their liturgical celebrations - people walk with Jesus in each of his events that he suffered during his final week on earth. These liturgies grow us together to Christ. We are grown as Te Whanau A Te Karaiti into these events (Stations of the Cross) as if each one of us was actually there.  By being part of the activity of the Station of the Cross we are sharing the part of the life and the love that Jesus gave us at that time.

Holy Thursday
Jesus and his friends gathered together to that we know that was the ''Last Supper'' Jesus gives himself to all those who were gather at the last supper and his friends he tells him ''Do this in memory of me.'' He gives his love - aroha in service by the washing of the feet. He tells them to follow this example of love and service - manmanaakitagia.

Good Friday
Jesus gives his life in love on the cross. He give Mother Mary to John as his mother. He forgives all those who sinned against him. He reconciles them with God (Jesus is asking God to forgive them for what they had done) and he gives the gift of passing through death to life with God.
